Abstract:
Objective To analyze and summarize the structural characteristics, development context, research hotspots and development trends of the global home-based care for the elderly from the macro and micro levels, so as to clarify the global research development in the field of home-based care for the elderly. Methods Using CiteSpace 6.2.R3 visual analysis software, co-word analysis, content analysis, cluster analysis and other research methods were used to analyze the countries, authors, institutions, keywords and other information of 5846 journal articles on home-based care for the elderly from January 1982 to June 2024 in the Web of Science core collection database. Results Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, China and other countries published a large number of papers in this field. Crotty Maria and Fetherstonhaugh Deirdre scholars from Australia had formed a large academic cooperation network; important publishing institutions were centered on universities, mostly in Australia and the United Kingdom. The research heat in the field of home care for the elderly in the world had been on the rise, and showed a trend of accelerating development. The evolution of this field had roughly experienced three stages of development: exploration period (1982-2006), growth period (2007-2017), and rapid development period (2018-present). The current research hotspots and frontier topics in the field of home-based care for the elderly included intelligent home, exercise programs, improper medication, integrated care, etc. Conclusion The global attention to the field of home-based care for the elderly is getting higher and higher. Australia, Europe and the United States and other countries started earlier and the academic exchanges between countries and authors are relatively close, which can provide important reference for China. In this field, the topics of medication safety, exercise program and intelligent home for the elderly at home will be the future research and development trend.
